Eeek Nor’easter!

We get a snowday starting at 12:30. The office closes and no one is allowed to stay. No skeleton crew. There has been 0” of snowfall so far, but better safe than sorry. I hope it is a mad rush to the parking structures. Sort of like roller derby. That is how I picture it anyway.

Boot Camp

Also in today’s issue of the legislative update are bills to authorize sending kids to boot camp (bill 1 & 2). Finally our juvenile correction system meets up with the tried and true methods practiced by such reputable child psychologists as Ricky Lake and Montel Williams. It is a proud day to be a Pennsylvanian and enjoy the official state cookie while sending troubled youth to boot camp where said cookie will be a tool of training that will encourage their successful reintegration in general society.

Democracy at Work

The PA legislature has an option to sign up for digests of bills being introduced and passed. I’ve been becoming more aware of how my elected officials spend their time. I’ve discovered bills to name polka the official dance of Pennsylvania and the square dance as the official American folk dance of Pennsylvania. I’m sure the SDAPA (Square Dancing Association of Pennsylvania) was unhappy with being limited to being only official American Folk dance, but you can’t mess with the League of Polka Enthusiasts in this state. No way, no day.

Also, included below are some of my favorite excerpts form PA Senate bill 254, which I refer to as the Cookie Bill. The cookie bill lists some very persuasive reasons why the Chocolate chip cookie should be the official cookie of the commonwealth. It is currently being reviewed by the State Government committee. I hope they don’t hold up it’s passing, as this bill will shape the cookies we eat in the future. I need to know where to put my undying loyalty and state pride when it comes to cookie eating.

WHEREAS, The chocolate chip cookie is the most popular type of cookie in America; and
WHEREAS, The chocolate chip cookie has been the most popular cookie of the children and adults of this Commonwealth for generations; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania leads the nation in the production of processed chocolate and cocoa; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is a leading producer of the nation's snack foods; and
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is the nation's fourth largest producer of milk, which is the perfect partner to the chocolate chip cookie; and
WHEREAS, Naming an official cookie of the Commonwealth would recognize the steadfast and loyal devotion of the citizens of Pennsylvania to the chocolate chip cookie

There has been a half eaten cake left over from a superbowl party on the microwave all week. It has a very sickly looking photo candy eagles logo on it. When will it be thrown out along with the hopes and dreams of a city?

There is a pep rally tomorrow at work to celebrate the eagles success and I promise you I will be there with my pom-poms in hand, but after that I am getting on the Chinatown bus and heading to New York. I’m trying to avoid the manic depressiveness of an Eagles win/loss. One of my main goals in New York is to get a haircut. Anyway, you’ll probably be hearing from me if you live in NYC, but also give me a call if you want to make plans. Below is the actual e-mail I received for the pep rally.


The Employees of the County of Delaware's 32nd Judicial District is holding a Pep Rally on February 4, 2005 at Noon on the front steps of the Court House. We would like to invite all County Employee's to celebrate our Philadelphia Eagles Success, and to have some FUN. We will also be asking that you donate to The Charity of "Save the Children" to help the most innocent effected by the Tsunami Disaster. So wear your Eagles Green, your jerseys, bring your flags and pom poms and show your Eagles Spirit! Have a Great Day and I look forward to seeing you all at Noon tomorrow!
