So, the baby on board car yield sign has an accompanying “don’t touch my baby” stop sign. Isn’t that just darling. I also like how the sign is available in Spanish as well. While I could be underestimating the number of highly affluent, monolingual, overprotective, germ phobic Spanish speaking parents there are out there, I think the real market for this is intended for the same highly affluent, monolingual, overprotective, germ phobic English speaking parents as the original. The Spanish language sign could be about diversity, but I’m guessing a woman who is so unused to dealing with people as she is unable to say, “don’t touch my baby” probably doesn’t have much experience outside her social circle. Therefore, I can’t help but conclude the Spanish language sign has the goal of keeping “the help” from touching her baby.



Either way, wouldn’t an ideogram be a better way to say “don’t touch my baby you dirty dirty stranger” to people of all levels of literacy. I submit the below prototype for your consideration. With help from Tracey, we found a very familiar WASPy icon of a baby, some evil looking hands, and voila.

Afternoon on the cobbs creek trail.

You can watch them rebuilding the el from the cobbs creek trail. Also the recreation center has the ms. Pac-man and tekken 3 arcade games.  It almost makes up for the fact that they encourage people to park on the trail.

Complaining

I just saw the batman movie which got out at 3:15. It is now 4:15 in the morning I am literally abrasive from the beach. It is already/still muggy and miserable outside. I know that i can only manage about 4 hours of sleep before it will be too hot to tomorrow. The bus passed me one block from the stop. It is supposed to be every 15 min. I've invested too much time to get a cab, but am too miserably tired not to. Blech.

So as I am stuck in traffic on an off ramp with a picture of a total schmuck waving at me from the back of a truck, I am forced to ask... As I always do when I'm forced to drive for work... "why do people do this to themselves?" I think I have become too unsympathetic to do highway transportation planning.
