Win a trip to Phila

hey US residents (excluding Puerto Rico and where prohibited) 18 and over,

I wanted to tell you about this contest so that one of you can win a trip to beautiful health conscious Philadelphia (when you get here you will see the sarcasm behind the health conscious comment).

The information is below. I would really like to see one of you win.

-Justin

You can win a trip for two to Philadelphia and a bunch of organic crap... It involves writing an essay on how you don't live naturally, but it is only 100 words. You can do that. There is also a chance to meet Christina from Christina cooks (PBS). I think the picture of her with the strawberries on her website will make it abundantly clear why that is worth wasting 30 minutes of your life to write an essay.

There is a link to the contest information of the first page of this... It ends May 31, 2001.

The weekly has a list of the 103 things they love about Philadelphia. This will give you a list of some of the things you can see when you come. It will only be on this website for a week, so read up.

I haven't finished reading the list yet, but here are some of my favorites so far...

96. Val Shively's R&B Records
~~~First of all, it is in Upper Darby. Second of all, it finally explains their vehement "No Browsing" Policy that led Josh to question why stores in Upper Darby actively try to turn away customers. There are also mail centers that advertise the fact that they don't have faxes or phones and a general store owner mentality that they are doing you a favor.
47. Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts
As usual, scads of Philadelphians cannot accept the fact that something good has happened to their town, and are looking to tear the performing arts center down by complaining about ticket prices, crowds, acoustics, snobbery, retail this-and-that. Well, get over it. The Kimmel is a remarkable addition to the cultural life of the region, and if it happened somewhere else--say, in a less cranky city--the residents would be justifiably thrilled.
42. The Khyber
Like, the only reason we don't call in an air strike on Old City on a Saturday night. Who are those people?
~~~This is the part of town I call the yuppie-slutty district. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels that way.

35. We can eat like pigs and dress unfashionably
Hey, it's Philly! Who's there to impress?
~~~You begin to see the comment about the health food contest.
30. Everything's old and dirty
